Strat:
Unless you are very quick with rolling i suggest you block the thrusting halberd attack. Instead roll when he performs the sweeping attack, and roll behind him.
Use bludgeoning weapons coupled with the stone ring you can get from the troll in Things Betwixt(the one near the hags's house) to stagger him and land extra hits.
This fight is not hard if you have a decent shield and you dont get greedy like i did.
