It's recommended to wear armor or rings that protect against dark magic. Increased stamina and a good defense shield will also help greatly. The boss is weak to lightning and can also be poisoned.
This gamechive contains two versions of the battle. The first is a solo battle, and the second is a partnership with NPC Grave Warden Agdayne. You must be in "human" form to summon him, and also have been careful not to have lit a torch while in the crypt.
