This setup may be kinda mediocre against a good shield user but it has a few ways to mitigate that. With the Shotel you can get decent chip damage with a quickish attack, it's a slow curved sword with the fast curved sword moveset. Then with the Great Machete you get a poise option with big damage potential. Plus it's got a true combo in the Shotel to Great Machete, provided the connection isn't terrible. If they keep their guard up you can choose to chip their hp or drain their stamina, if they don't then hit them with the combo.
