Crystal sage sucks at SL1 with low damage and no parries. Misery. Silver Eagle shield is the best pre-rings shield for damage, pierce shield comes close but its slightly weaker by a few points of AR and thrust is a worse damage type most the time unless you land counter hits which is barely ever in this game. Raw infusion is best the by far, but heavy does outperform uninfused by a few points. I went with heavy because there's only two guaranteed raw gems in the game and I have two other shields I want to use in mind that I'm saving them for.
