Kind of similar to being called a hacker an uncountable number of times just for backstabbing people ( https://youtu.be/f4TR_6_C4Mk ) I've also been called a cheater for using consumable items. One could technically consider having a friend drop them an item a cheat if they really believe that everything someone has must be earned by themselves, one could apply that same logic to beating the game itself though. Regardless of how the dropped items system is used though, consumable heals on invaders get's the most attention even though hosts can do the same and there are plenty who do.

Personally I try to limit my use of them to host who have summoned in someone after other phantoms have already died and on occasion a bonfire queen looking to abuse their natural estus advantage. One notable exception I have to using a consumable heal on a general player/group though is if I've been hit with an Undead Hunter Charm and don't want to stall for its effect to go away. Nothing is stopping me from running into the level or just dodging for the next 45 seconds. The only reason why I don't do that though is because I really hate it when a host stalls for more summons or just to prolong a fight in general.

So instead of stalling I'll use a consumable heal in these cases and almost without fail I'll either see a mail or dc out of the host in response. After all I must've been cheating to not only illegally backstab and kill an over leveled buddy but also heal with an item while charmed. In most cases these players don't even think about Siegbraus though, they just see the heal and assume you're using hacks to ignore the Undead Hunter Charm effect (which would honestly be a questionable hack given how oddly specific it'd be, I play on a PS4 btw).
