Dark Souls Part 015: Meeting Reah and Laurentius
0Reah is one of my favorite characters in the game. I think she's cute, and she deserved so much better than what she got. The only problem is that her questline is so cryptic and confusing that even people online can't seem to agree exactly how it works. I think I've prepared the timeline of events and we will see if I can move her questline to a good ending. At the very least I can prevent her untimely death.
The Depths can seem quite intimidating upon your first visit. It looks like an expansive maze of tunnels that seem very confusing. However, the maze like appearance doesn't go very far and a lot of areas loop back around to previous ones. It gives off the illusion that the place is more complicated than it actually is. There are two Butcher type enemies at the start of The Depths and the first one guards the Large Ember. This will allow us to upgrade weapons and armor to +10 at Andre the Blacksmith. A very useful item indeed.
Laurentius is found inside a barrel in The Depths. Who put him there? I have no idea. He mentioned that someone with a female pronoun will eat him for lunch. Which character or enemy he is referring to I could not tell you. He turns out to be one of the most important characters in the game because he introduces the player to Pyromancy. Pyromancy is a useful spell type that I recommend to most players. It can really get you out of a jam, but you need to upgrade the Pyromancy Flame weapon many times before it becomes useful.
Back at Firelink Shrine, we now see that Reah and her group have left for the Catacombs. This makes me miss out on meeting Patches the Hyena down there. However, I don't feel it is that important. I want to make sure I see Reah's quest through correctly. Laurentius is annoying because he is the only character you have to answer "No" to get something positive. I never hit "Yes" before with him and I don't want to think of what happens if I did.
