Dark Souls Remastered - Knight Artorias boss fight
This video features the boss fight against Knight Artorias from the PC version of Dark Souls Remastered.
Note that in the original release of the game Artorias could be fought only in his own dedicated DLC/expansion, Artorias of the Abyss. However both the Prepare to Die Edition (which served as the PC port of Dark Souls and, as I'm writing this, is no longer available) and the Remastered version include said DLC by default, effectively making Artorias a part of the main game, albeit an optional one which isn't required at all to finish the main game and proceed to new game plus.
Knight Artorias, or Artorias the Abysswalker, is the second main boss of the Artorias the Abyss content of the game and comes after the previous Sanctuary Gurdian encounter. Defeating Artorias is necessary to reach the Oolacile Township from the Royal Wood and face the last boss of the area, Manus, Father of the Abyss, on top of bein a requiremnent to unlock the Battle of Stoicism and partake in online pvp battles in the nearby coliseum.
Artorias will fight the player wileding his signature greatsword, swinging it around wildly and, at times, doing quick jumps and flips to attack him/her in quick succession by also closing the distance. While defeating the boss requires the player to learn his patterns quickly and react accordingly by either blocking or dodging in the right direction, the main challenge of the fight comes from the fact Artorias hits incredibly hard, he can chain his attacks without warning (forcing the player to be extremely cautious in hitting back most of the time) and his swings will often disregard the invicibility frames provided by rolling.
Every time Artorias will lose a fifth or so of hish health, he will start to surround himself with a dark aura of Abyss energy. If he's allowed to finish his casting, he'll produce a huge explosion around himself, which dishes out a lot of damage, and his attacks will hit even harder and draw even more stamina for about a minute. It's worth mentioning however that, with enough damage, Artorias can be staggered during casting and prevented to get said buff
