Darkest Dungeon 2 rant - I tried, I really did
3Hey team, its been awhile. Decided to boot up Darkest Dungeon 2 for the first time in months, and I'm feeling pretty jaded after only a couple of runs.
This video doesn't have any gameplay footage, it isn't any kind of showcase, its just me thinking out loud. If I was forced to give a letter grade for DD2, I think its a B. I think its a full two tiers below Slay the Spire. I will likely play it again in the future, but not for awhile.
As I mention in the video, I give 3 main recommendations as to how to fix the game. I would do a combination of these, or all three of them:
1) Reduce total runtime
2) Add more Randomness (to both characters and enemies)
3) Make progression more meaningful (the Altar is not a real upgrade system - see Against the Storm's citadel upgrade system for a good example)
