Darkstalker's Revenge [Arcade] - play as Pyron
This is a play-through using Pyron in the Arcade version of Night Warriors: Darkstalker's Revenge. Read on below for more information...
Pyron is the final boss in the game, and he is a regular selectable character.
===== About Pyron =====
He is a powerful alien who has the power of controlling fire, and comes from the planet Hellstorm. For over 200 million years, he sought to collect worlds and other celestial objects throughout space by consuming them in flames. He originally went to the planet Earth during the age of the dinosaurs and created the army of Huitzil robots to wipe out life on it, however he did not consume it. 65 million years later, after travelling across the cosmos, he lands within the Atlantic Ocean to wait for the right time to consume the planet Earth. There is a sense of "honour" about him as he respects worthy opponents.
Design-wise, Pyron is the "alien" of the Darkstalkers franchise. He is made of pure energy, and makes for a decent boss of the series. Rather ironically, despite being an alien, his fighting style somewhat resembles a typical martial artist with some fancy punches and kicks.
===== Additional Information =====
---- Compared to his DS1 incarnation, his ground Fireball outlet comes out slower this time.
---- Compared to his DS1 incarnation, his Wheel special move now charges forward instead of rising.
---- Compared to his DS1 incarnation, he gains a new EX Special move. ES versions of his existing special moves are also new as well.
---- Compared to his DS1 incarnation, he has a few new basics. Examples being his standing [MK] and standing [HK].
---- Compared to his DS1 incarnation, his Air Fireball command has now been changed to U,UF,F + [P].
---- Compared to his DS1 incarnation, his basics no longer inflict energy depletion when blocked by the opponent.
---- Compared to his DS1 incarnation, when you perform his Air Fireball and the projectile lands on the ground, it no longer creates an energy pillar. Instead, the projectile just disappears.
---- His Air Teleport command (B,D,DB + [P]) remains a "nuisance", because when I jump, I tend to hold Back all the time to air block... therefore if I choose to do his Spinning Blaze I end up doing the Air Teleport instead.
---- His incomplete ending from the prequel Darkstalkers 1 is fully implemented and complete in Darkstalker's Revenge.
---- The game is known as Vampire Hunter: Darkstalker's Revenge in Japan.
---- The game can also be known as Darkstalkers 2.
===== About Darkstalker's Revenge =====
Darkstalker's Revenge improves on the prequel by adding 4 new characters to the roster - 2 being the bosses from the previous game and 2 being completely new. The portrait artwork for the characters have all been re-drawn well. Gameplay-wise, new ES Special and EX Special moves are also added. The soundtrack is also new, which is much better as they are refined remixes of the existing themes from the prequel (obviously Lei-Lei and Donovan have completely new themes as it is their debut).
