Darkwing Duck Playthrough

The terror that flaps in the night gets an able assist thanks to developer Capcom using the Mega Man playbook as the template for this game. That’s a good move. It provides a baseline that helps ensure the game isn’t a total washout. And there is enough in the game to help ensure that it has enough of the Darkwing Duck feel with familiar characters, items and so on. Unfortunately, it does feel like a lot of corners were cut. The controls are all over the place and the level design has a “samey” feel throughout. There isn’t much to hang your hat on when it comes to inspiration. A couple of the boss fights are neat and the music isn’t bad, but little here rises above the level of pedestrian. Good for a few yuks if you’re a fan of the cartoon, but that’s about all it has going for it.
