David Brevik's It Lurks Below - A 2024/25 Review

It has been 5 years since I last played David Brevik's It Lurks Below. Due to a recent patch, I return to this game. Rolled a new character - a necromancer. I have spent 24+ hours playing. A summary of my thoughts? The aRPG aspect has always been good, because of David's legacy with Diablo, Hellgate London, and Marvel Heroes. The survivor aspect has improved and matured over the years. It is more balanced and fun. However, the reality is that David may not focus on this game these days. I have encountered issues whereby my screen freezes very often. Some of my NPCs have gone invisible. Others in the forum encountered other issues. Will Mr. Brevik fix all these issues? I am not so sure. So should you get this game during the Steam Winter Sale? Well, at 85% discount, it is really a steal. But only if you are lucky enough not to encounter issues like some of us do. I hope you enjoy this honest review.
