When last we left our adventurers, Vayu the Air Genasi Rogue, Ronzi the Halfling Artificer, Brytmora the Hill Dwarf Bloodhunter, and Snaps the Kenku Cleric, they had arrived to Vernal Den, a secluded land of cliffs and shadowed valleys. There, they discovered the towering, ancient tree that served as the home of “Mother,” a curious and unnerving fairy named Ember. Her dwelling, nestled within the hollow of the massive tree, was both whimsical and strange. The walls were decorated with trinkets, mismatched furniture, forgotten treasures, and seemingly worthless junk that carried a nostalgic weight. Rats scurried about the halls, tending to the space like devoted children, while Ember herself welcomed the group with an eerie yet genuine warmth.

As they settled in, Ember offered them tea and food, answering questions with grace and occasional vagueness. When asked about Lukas, she stated that Lukas had been ill as of late, assuming that the curse within the area was the source of it. Her attention soon turned to Vayu, where a wave of emotional recognition washed over her—she was convinced Vayu had perished long ago after a tragic fall. The encounter was layered with both joy and grief, leaving Ember shaken yet composed. Meanwhile, the party explored the many rooms of the tree, discovering oddities, enchanted trinkets, and an overwhelming sense of misplaced innocence. Though nothing overtly sinister presented itself, a quiet discomfort lingered… like a forgotten memory tugging at the back of their minds.
