Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: Apes side-by-side
Aside from the incredible visual detail evident within the ape's hair, wrinkles, and wounds, WD's animators have also managed to transfer the actors' facial movements so precisely to the apes that it's almost impossible to distinguish them from their hairier cousins. From Caesar's hard, stoic glare to Blue Eyes's soft, touching glance, the CG apes' faces and body movements express a level of human emotions only Jane Goodall could appreciate. While we're no expert on primatology, we do know when VFX is done right, and Dawn of the Planet of the Ape doesn't look to disappoint.
