Small businesses and their employees are the backbone of the tourism industry. Without the return of tourists, many of these businesses face the grim prospect of bankruptcy within a few months.
This video is to inform people that small businesses in parts of NC are open and need customers. This is not made to minimize what has happened in the flooded areas.
Western North Carolina's businesses that earn income from tourists could lose up to $1.8 billion if tourism does not resume this fall.
In 2021, North Carolina had more than 964,000 small businesses, accounting for over 99 percent of small businesses, with more than 1.7 million small business employees in the state.
