We need magic items to beat the game. That's all there is to it. We're going to be bukkaked by fireballs in the Mantellan Crux, and we won't survive without magic resistance. Aside from that, we're basically screwed any time an attribute is drained, or we become poisoned or diseased. They always say, if you can't use magic, go to the temple, but the temple isn't doing enough. I'd have given the same advice before I learned what this was like. You need magic - it's just a fact of Daggerlife.
