Daytona Championship USA - Seaside Street Galaxy (Expert)
23Some gameplay from Daytona Championship USA, being played with Logitech DFGT wheel. If you've seen my new '25 Years of Daytona USA: Special Edition' video, you'll have actually seen this video before, as being only a one lap race it features in it's entirety in that video.
One lap is just too hard for me to manage a 1st place on the Expert stage, although I've seen other players do it, and I was soooo close to getting a third in one race this one time, but I cocked it up on the very last corner, clipped a wall and allowed a twatting CPU car to get past me. Trying to figure out how to change the number of laps is something that's stumped me for ages, but I finally figured it out today, with help from another YouTuber called B-DIGITAL, and a bit of detective work.
He mentioned that I needed to change the settings in my Gamesettings.ini file, located at /sega/shelldata. Under the [Gamesettings] section I needed to change: GAME LENGTH=LONG
Now the only issue with this was that in that file location I had no such ini file. This is where the detective work came in and I was able to figure out that the Gamesettings.ini file is something that should've auto-generated but hadn't, so I needed to make one. Funnily enough, someone links to one of my videos earlier on in that thread, so me needing to use it myself now sort of goes full circle. The LONG option is kind of bizarre though. Setting it to long gives you the right number of laps for the Expert course, but doesn't alter the Advance courses three and changes the Beginner to 11. Weird.
