UPDATE TO DESCRIPTION:
So, this was an upload I hadn't made public using the old Supermodel network that needed the -no-threads option that slowed things down. Before I got around to publishing it, all the developments with the new network happened, which you've probably probably seen me publish videos about. If not see one here! https://youtu.be/0BtcIS-KFFI

But the thing is, I went to the effort of videoing myself getting a first place on this track, dammit, so I'm still publishing it, even though it's now outdated!

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
I've uploaded a few (well, quite a few actually) videos in the past demonstrating the Supermodel network feature that allows you to link-up multiple versions of the emulator together to simulate a multiplayer network of arcade cabinets linked together. I hadn't realised though that it was actually possible to do this using just a single instance of Supermodel, by changing the port-in and port-out settings to the same value (I set them both to 1970) and keeping the network option on in the game's config ini. Thanks to YouTuber Valentín Mestre for passing this info on!

This means, by changing the game to 'master' in the test menu, the game will load up, and you can then set the car to whatever multiplayer number you want and then play that car in single player, but with it's multiplayer colours. Cool! This works in both Power Edition and Battle on the Edge.

You still need to use the 'no-threads' option to get it working though, which changes Supermodel from multi-core CPU mode to single-core, as for some reason (as of yet unknown why) Supermodel's network will crash in multi-CPU mode. My PC isn't quite able to run Supermodel full speed in single core mode, hence why the audio's a bit stuttery. I was just using an Xbox 360 pad for this, rather than my racing wheel, so the gameplay might look a bit more jerky.

If you use this same technique on Scud Race, you'll get the car's multiplayer colours coming up in the attract mode (for whatever cabinet number you set it to), but when you start a game, you'll be playing in the regular P1 colours. interestingly though, on the car select and stage select screens, you get the different multiplayer music, rather than the standard single player music.
