Daytona USA 2:Power Edition - 1st with Hornet classic on Beginner (4K)
36OK, so I'm not actually playing these in 4K, this is an older video I've upscaled into 4K. Why? Please read on, dear viewer...
YouTube went through this REALLY annoying phase, which actually started about 3 years or so back, of horrendously pixelating and just absolutely destroying the quality of anything I uploaded. No matter how high the bitrate or how excellent the video quality of the rendered video was, it would look like utter dog-shite by the time YouTube finished processing it. It was incredibly frustrating. There were a couple of videos of me playing Scud Race and Daytona USA on Supermodel that I uploaded that YouTube's post processing really, REALLY did a number on, that looked more like blocky 360p videos when played back in HD 1080p.
I eventually realised though that if you upload your videos in 4K, it seems to greatly preserve the quality of the HD video. Doing this was a bit of a pain in the arse for me back then, as I was on a painfully slow internet connection, and it used to take me several days to upload big videos (and by big, I mean if they were bigger than about 3GB!). However, I upgraded to a fast internet connection about 9 months or so ago, so this isn't an issue any more and I just upload everything at 4K with a bit rate of around 65,000kbs, which seems to preserve the video quality.
The fact that the video quality on these Model 3 videos got so badly degraded is something that's always really bugged me and just the other day I realised I actually still had the video files on a back-up drive. So why not upload these videos now and have them displayed on YouTube in the quality that they should've been in all along? So, I've upscaled the original 1080p video into 4K, and oh man, it's so great to be able to play this on YouTube now without all the pixelation artefacts ruining it.
