Supermodel r787 - this is a version of Supermodel that corrects the emulation bug that made all the BGMs in Le Mans 24 play too slowly in the emulator previously.

There are actually three races on the Circuit de la Sarthe 24 hour course here:
1st: 00:00
2nd: 13:12
3rd: 26:32

I'd originally planned for this to just be a very quick and easy bit of video capture, just to demonstrate the BGMs working properly now, and as such I was just playing here with an Xbox 360 pad, rather than digging my wheel out and getting it set-up. It's a lot harder to main precise control of the car this way. For comparison check me out play the game here with my racing wheel: https://youtu.be/f9be8yBPfVU

As I got to the end of the first race here though, I remembered that if you play the game again straight afterwards, you actually get a different time of day and/or weather and different BGMs to go with them, so I decided to have another go. And then, just for the hell of it, one more after that. I probably should've just got my wheel out...

Anyway, marvel here as I get progressively worse in each race, as I go from an easy, to intermediate to hard level car. One of these days I'll place higher than a D and earn the respect of the two ladies who score you, dammit! I'm using the alternate liveries for each of the cars here, which you can access by holding down the 'VR1' and 'Start' button at the car selection screen before making your choice with the gas pedal.

I've mentioned this before, but I really have developed a bit of a new found appreciation for just how good this game is in recent years. I used to just think of it as the slightly weird handling model 3 racer, that wasn't as good looking as Scud Race or Daytona USA 2. I think this was further compounded by the fact that the graphics were so incredibly broken in the early versions of Supermodel. You can see for yourself just how far it's come here: https://youtu.be/ASyppvwrGSE

But the thing is this game was waaaay ahead of its time. The dynamic time of day transitions, going from day/dusk/night/dawn and the changing weather effects were revolutionary back in 1997. There were no other racing games in the arcade or at home doing this, actual dynamic changes as you race and actual convincing changes in the light, not just a crap filter that looks like someone's draped a bit of translucent blue tissue paper over your monitor screen. And yeah, the handling does feel a bit different to some other Sega racers, but if you're playing this with a wheel it controls just fine. Heck, even just playing it with a pad here it didn't feel terrible.

The music in this game also deserves a special mention, the cool sort of jazzy House style perfectly suits the continental race vibe the rest of the game has and I absolutely love it. Probably one of my favourite ever soundtracks to a Sega racer. There's even a bit of drum 'n' bass in there.

Thanks to YouTuber pinkimo for pointing me in the right direction t get a version with the BGMs running at the correct speed. you can download it yourself from here: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/jqqg6jzzp6dfi/Supermodel+Releases
