When you're new to DayZ, or even just an experienced player, it's very easy to accidently drop and lose the hard-earned gear that you've found - so in this tutorial video I discuss the four main reasons why you might lose gear, and therefore how to avoid doing it!
The main reason for losing items is forgetting to swap them over to new clothing, vests or backpacks when you find them. Next is probably crafting, where you make something and then leave it on the ground. After that, having a full inventory means that you have to put things down, drop them, in order to interact with other items, and you forget that you dropped the item.
Lastly, messing with your inventory during a server restart can lead to items unnecessarily being lost.
