If you find that you have to re-adjust when you're trying to snap onto targets or enemies by moving back onto them, your mouse DPI & or controller sensitivity is probably too high. If, when trying to get your sights onto a target you find yourself not reaching them, your mouse & or controller sensitivity is too low, although that's very unlikely.
Most players run mouse DPI's and Console Controller Sensitivities that are way too high, forcing you to over-correct in an already stressful situation. Just by reducing your mouse sensitivity you'll find you get onto targets much more accurately, and the same goes for controller sensitivity too,
A larger mouse mat helps, as does sticking with any changes you make for a reasonable amount of time.
