DCC Fitting Guide | Zimo MX638D 21 Pin Decoder Into A Mehano Blue Tiger | Model Train Tutorial
9Here is another extra video to come that is not on the weekly schedule and this DCC Installation Guide shows how to install the Zimo MX638D MTX 21 Pin DCC decoder into the Mehano Blue Tiger. Its quite an easy process once you know where the holding clips are located as there is no screws that holds the body to the chassis on this model train.
Mehano suggests using a flat head screwdriver to slot under the red coloured clips closest to the centre and gently pry the clips away to release the bodyshell. Take your time on this because there are fragile parts on the model and the last thing we need is any damage to the model train.
There are four screws that hold the circuit board to the chassis and you will have to unbolt these to get access to the recess where the blanking plug is located. Just remove this and keep it safe in the box. I do this as then if I need to remove the decoder for some reason which on this occasion. It was faulty. I could always reinstall the blanking plug for analogue use. I swapped the decoder for the same one from Zimo as the one I used would move the train in one direction but not the other direction!
Odd as everything else on the decoder including all six functions worked fine such as light control etc. I hope this DCC Installation Guide Tutorial will be helpful to someone and it tells you the process but I am not responsible for any mishaps from this guide and you use this guide at your own risk.
