DCS World - Performance? Game slow loading, laggy? : (nvme, ssd, vs hard drive) what to buy?
For this performance test I had loaded up my DCS World installation on multiple hard disk drives, to check for laggy game play. Drivers in use Samsung 980 SSD, Samsung NVME 970 and spinning disk Seagate IronWolf 12TB. What parts should you buy or upgrade, to make DCS run better. After I ran benchmark tests to open, load, re-slot and multiplayer connect from each of the drives. Side by side compared and recorded the settings to show which is slow, faster or fastest.
Hopefully, this helps explain why the NVME drives are the fastest.
But the results do show that an SSD will be enough for DCS to load up quite quick. You can get the NVME but its not required, the regular ssd keeps up quite well. Improve your load time and even your FPS.
