DCUO - Rage VS Celestial: Expecting more from Rage [GU46] - kVk Series Part 39
189Welcome to the episode n.39 of the kAiSeR vs kAiSeR series, the original comparisons between powersets. This time Rage VS Celestial.
Game Update 46 is on test and Rage is getting updated trying to match the damage of other powersets. There are not changes to the powers, power trees, or for tanking. The novelty is only a new concept for the DPS side called “Savage state”, basically after performing a Rage combo you will enter savage state for a few seconds, while in that state the damage of your combo abilities get boosted plus the savage state duration gets increased (so you can remain in savage state).
Essentially, same idea as Celestial. I will make a detailed guide once I make sure all the changes to Rage are definitive, because all the guides out there are outdated and not accurate.
Rage ranged rotations are very limited to Dreadful Blast since it’s the only ranged move capable of performing combos. So every single ranged rotation will be focused on it. It’s really simple and boring but even though many people was asking for having more ranged moves, nothing changed. Also you will notice that Galling Eruption coldown was reduced from 14s to 12s to match Bloodlust. Besides, there’s no reason to clip Dreadful Blast with Plasma Retch since this last one doesn’t get any damage boost if savage state, so you better keep doing Dreadful Blast over and over again if you don’t want to lose DPS. Very dumb.
The melee rotations are very nice and fun to use, but since all the PvE content forbids you to melee due to the mobs having PvP mechanics and all those PBAoE attacks I don’t understand why in such a PvE focused game Rage doesn’t have more than 1 viable ranged option. Nevertheless, Rage has a lot of potential in PvP and tanking.
For Celestial I decided to go for a medium range rotation to match Rage. I won’t be using PLcDL until it gets fixed (currently it’s not getting any extra damage after a multi-input combo if you clip it too fast), and instead I’ll get the three buffs, Benediction, Anoint and Dark Pact and rotate Retribution into Wither and Consume Soul into Wrath of the Presence. I won’t be using the SC either because it’s hitting the other sparring targets. For both sets I’ll be using a full precision setup.
Remember that these comparisons are done on test dummies and the results may differ from a real scenario.
