Dance Dance Revolution
Digital Life 2004 Tournament
Freestyle Dancing Competition
Flashdance (DDR 3rd Mix)
Oshuan, a.k.a. Devil In Black

(Videos were ripped from a blog. This was before youtube had gained popularity. This is why the quality of the videos are poor)

Background: In New York City, there was an arcade named Broadway City. When Dance Dance Revolution gained popularity, people that played the game would often dance on the pad when it was their turn to play and come up with actual dance routines instead of going for a high score. There was a remake of the song "Flashdance" on the version of DDR that was in Broadway City at the time.

Where the freestyle comes from is up for debate among old school New York City DDR players. People that know of NYC DDR legends Darwin and Dre will claim that they are the originators of a lot of popular NYC DDR freestyles that were later modified and used when they stopped playing (I would love to start doing interviews with people pertaining to old school DDR in NYC).

Osh made this freestyle "famous" (or infamous, however you would like to look at it) when he entered the Jacob Javits Digital Life Dance Dance Revolution tournament in 2004 and performed the "Flashdance" routine equipped with tight clothing and a pink sash. The rest is history.

(I think Osh got either 2nd or 3rd place for this routine).
