0I can only list a few things in the title...there are so many other things that I have a look at as I do this triage operation...and indeed, make efforts to de-clutter the basement...but that sometimes means that things just move to another part of the house...but not always...it is hard to get rid of things...and indeed, if you are in the presence of a hoarder, collector, etc...you must give them space, not to get more stuff, but to go through and pass things along at their pace...the more you pester, nag, or mention things, the more slowly progress will come...many do not understand that their well intentioned words, do harm, damage, and indeed, build resent and bad feelings...once somebody has decided to go through this painful process, leave them to it...offer a cold or warm beverage, facilitate by perhaps bring home a box or two that you find at work or the LCBO, and of course there is always the need for bags for recycling, and also to put together collections of things that are to be donated to a person, or organization...indeed...fall back into a support role...where you do little and say even less...but when a request is made of you, do not try to adjust or offer some other idea or suggestion...that will screw up the process...whatever is asked of you, do what you can to do that as best as you can, as quickly as you can...and leave he or she who is sorting to sort, and make progress...no matter how small...a little bit each day is better than nothing at all...and some days, there will be vast progress...and indeed, the area that they are working on, or in, will look far worse, before it ever looks better...suck it up, deal with it, and rejoice when the room or closet or car or wherever is done...this is a very hard thing for collectors to do...and any pressure...will stifle their progress...and things will regress, so, go somewhere else in the house, do things that you like and leave them alone...else the self-fulfilling prophecy will come true and nothing will be accomplished...I know it is tough to be quiet and let it happen...but that is what you must do...unless you are summoned and asked to be helpful...then, do not try to help, be helpful...
There are always interesting things to be found in the basement of a hoarder...and there are always lots more interesting items not listed in the title...
It is time to start going through things in the basement again...and actually getting rid of some things...Memories...nothing like memories...
