Dead by Daylight is a online game with 4 vs 1, where one player takes on the role of a savage killer and the four other players are survivors. The Survivors try to escape the killer, avoid being caught, tortured and killed by hiding and using your cunning wits to stay alive. The survivors perspective is third person and the killers perspective is first person.
The goal of the survivors is to escape the enclosed area which can be done in two ways, by hatch aka the black hatch or by disabling generators(amount of generators are disabled on screen). These generators provide power to switches placed by large metal doors. This is the last thing standing between you and freedom or getting murdered. The hatch opens 2 ways, NUMBER 1, the hatch opens with one survivor and at least 2 disabled generators, NUMBER 2, the survivors will need a key to open the hatch. The hatch will appear at one of many predetermined locations. Your movements can make or break you depending on what situation your in, you can run, hide, crawl, crouch walking, using darkness, hiding in buildings, foliage or inside lockers.
The survivors have the option to equip up to four perks per match that will greatly affect how the round goes. But each surivor has 3 distinct perks they can teach others via the Bloodweb which cost Bloodpoints obtained by accomplishing different feats in game. There are tons of perks to obtain through Bloodweb. FIghting off your killer survivors can use items and traps in the area, inside each level there are chests that have useful items like first aid kits, flashlights, toolboxes, maps, dull key, and a skeleton key. ONE trap everyone can use are pallets spread throughout each map(pallets stand upright) which block the killer from coming after you momentarily. Killers have to break the pallets while survivors can vault over these pallets till the killer breaks them. Pallets pushed down at the right time can stun a killer briefly so you can get a head start and hide to evade death. You can also vault through windows and over certain areas around each map to avoid the killer. The best chance a player has is to listen for a heartbeat(michael myers not included)that will signal you a killer is in your vicinity and when a killer is chasing you music intensely plays till you avoid them or get knocked down. So be cautious hide and get ready to run, stop what your doing. Whether it be cleansing a totem, repairing generators, disabling hooks(used only with killers after they take down a survivor(s).
Playing as a killer your either a Trapper, the Wraith, the Hillbilly, the Nurse, the Shape, the Hag, the Doctor, the Huntress, the Cannibal, the Nightmare, the Pig or the Clown(and new ones being added). The killer must hit a survivor twice to knock them down unless they heal. Killers cant run but run at fast pace stalking till they kill a survivor or they get away. When a player gets knocked down the killer then picks them up and sticks them to a hook placed around the map. The survivor hangs on the hook till another survivor takes them down by pulling them off the hook thus saving them but getting taken off the hook only yields them one hit before getting knocked down again. Unless a teammate heals them or they heal themselves. Getting hit once slows you down by giving you a limp, you start to moan in agony from your wound till healed, groaning cant be stopped unless healed and can be heard by the killer if close enough. Some killers have one hit take downs so be careful with those. All killers who find a survivor hiding in a locker automatically get captured and placed on the killers shoulder to be taken to a meat hook where they can be sacrificed to the Entity that keeps you trapped in the map. You can also auto capture a survivor if there repairing a generator and dont see you creeping up on them. once a survivor is place on a meat hook 3 times they automatically die from the claws of the enitity carrying their soul to eternal damnation. You can leave survivors to bleed out to death or with certain killers like the Pig you can place Reverse Beat Traps on downed survivors. These survivors need to find a trap around the map with a creepy doll on top that has a key to unlock your trapped head or your head explodes you die horribly. Getting placed on a meat hook once enters phase one, the player can try to escape the hook for a low rate escape that will be next to impossible to achieve. Phase 2 starts off with claws of the Entity engaging as soon as your placed on the meat hook waiting till that small percentage to escape or be saved by another survivor. If your saved when fighting off the Entity claws, next phase is an automatic kill with no way of surviving. When a survivor is picked up they have a chance to wiggle from the killers grasp but they must fill the bar completely before doing so.
