Dead by Daylight -- Startup
I don't know what this is, and I'm scared:

I'm sorry... wh... what's going on?
I think we've had a very small amount of on-the-record coverage after which we can safely conclude that I'm not meant to interact with horror or vice versa.
I'm serious. It's bad. It's always going to be bad.
Unless your GOAL is to enjoy my suffering. Because that's always an option!
(Don't worry, everything is suffering. We all get some! Guaranteed!)

For a little background on my understanding and thoughts on this one...
These are the same people who made those Dorito's Crash Course games, right? And also... ... ... um... Naughty Bear? Okay, no, now I understand. This makes perfect sense now.
I believe... ... ... this game is largely a victim of its own unexpected success. It was bizarre to say the least that a little love letter to horror films in the form of asymmetrical multiplayer eventually garnered enough attention that it started to enjoy the opportunity to adapt licensed properties into its... ever-hazier mythos. Suddenly you have their own loving knockoffs needing to coexist alongside their own big-name inspirations while needing to remain true to their origins and uniquely engaging for gameplay purposes.
B-but that's good, right? Big names and properties are taking notice and wanting a piece of the pie! YOUR pie! That's only ever going to be good! The opening startup is now themed around an iconic video game survival horror franchise! ...from back when it used to be about survival and horror rather than action! (They're still trying to figure that one out, mind you...)
You can really see the strain of a small time development team needing to scale up bigger and better to match the improbable influx of players and all manner of technical and balance considerations, when the game... probably wasn't meant to be scrutinized all that much compared to the simple joys of mass-murdering complete strangers who seem to enjoy the unbalanced equation of scrappy survivors trying to scrape by in the face of a faceless and unfathomable evil.
As such, it's my understanding that... the way to learn this particular game is... to play a lot of it. Badly. Or watch people play it on YouTube, and internalize an Internet-aggregated understanding of the mechanics and even the major nuances of... like... the primary objectives?
Or you die. A lot. Which... might ALSO be the point?! Have you ever met a slasher flick character who actually KNEW what they were doing? ...and... if they did... didn't it just make ALL the narrative sense that they weren't going to be sticking around for very long? (Just don't give any charismatic speeches in front of a potential point of ingress!)

The point is: I have no idea what I'm doing. Not even now. Putting up this video. So I'm ripping off the band-aid and just getting it out of the way. Because... yikes! I'm trying, okay?!
(I'm also fighting some weird technical difficulties that I'll be sure to expound upon at great length once I finally get them figured out. The real difficulty will be drowning out the droning you never asked for!)
But I digress! The MOST important and scariest thing of all is... EULAs and privacy policies! (The horror!)
