Dead Space 2 (2011) Revisited + Thoughts on a Remake | Chapter 07: "Up and Array"
0This playthrough was recorded at the start of January 2023, weeks before the Dead Space Remake. But after playing that game, I decided to go back and edit as much of my Dead Space 2 playthrough as I could with annotations/thoughts about the game in light of the Remake.
Annotations can be found at the bottom of the screen throughout. Hopefully you enjoy them, since they took several hours to edit in and then re-render and upload.

THE GAME:
Hot off the back of playing Dead Space (2008) for the first time, I revisit Dead Space 2, a game I did play but, as it turns out, remember shockingly little about.
I have mixed feelings about Dead Space 2. Part of me thinks it is a (small) step back in terms of atmosphere, even as it takes steps (or antigravity leaps) forward in storytelling, visuals, sound design, et cetera. Maybe it's a little too 'actiony' in comparison to the first game? I'm unsure.
Second half of the game is top notch, though. Good pacing and storytelling with some witty, snarky badassery and some really good psychological fakeouts.

►Dead Space 2 doesn't have chapter titles -- a real missed opportunity, in my opinion -- and the ones listed on the wiki seem to be from a strategy guide rather than official, so I've made up some of my own.
