126Alan Wake 2 is not Woke , Saga Anderson was not written as a Black women to make the game Woke it was done for Lore Purposes. Changing something does not automatically make it Woke nor the reason behind the change being to satisfy some political pressure or advance some agenda. People are just looking for reasons to be mad, and in reality, a character being changed in anyway is part of game design, and people who choose to look at Race and Sexual orientation changes without understanding the context, should actually be educated on the subject and think before they voice their opinion.
Woke Culture is not influencing and ruining everything.
I never had any intention of making a video like this. Although its been a splinter in my mind, there are just so many people talking about it, I felt like I could add little to the conversation. I guess what motivated me to do this is this is all these people who haven't even played the game calling Alan Wake 2 , Alan Woke.
People should actually play the game before they label it as Woke. Also changing a characters physical appearance does not automatically make something Woke. The game pushes no Agenda at all, Saga is a great character and does not feel black for the sake of being black. In reality if you play the game you will learn a good part of her family is White. If you understand what Remedy has been trying to do with their games and characters since the release of Control, and who Alan Wake is and the idea of being able to rewrite reality and characters , and bring fiction to life of all the games out there is makes perfect sense for a character to be able to change. But the most important thing here, and I should have started with this is as Remedy has moved into connecting their lore from all their games there is a key plot point that people are missing and completely overlook and that is the character of Mr Door and who he is.
Mr. Door is played by David Harewood but Lance Reddick was originally cast in the role.. Lance played Martin Hatch in Quantum Break, and there is a really important piece of Lore inside of Quantum Break and Alan Wake 2 that explains who Mr. Door really is, and his relationship to Saga. well ill just say it because people complaining about this probably don't have the attention span to actually play Alan wake 2 or uncover the information themselves. Remedy has decided to write Mr Door as Sagas Father, so Yes it makes much more sense for Saga to be a black or dark skinned multi racial women for the sake of the Lore remedy is creating in their connected universe.
People need to let this shit go. Yes Woke is stupid, yes i hate it too, but not everything that gets changed can be called Woke. People are so fast to jump on the band wagon, while being completely ignorant of the subject they are discussing. Plus have you seen Melanie Liburd ? Saga is smoking hot, she's not some cliche' butch lesbian strong black women shoving it down our throat, her character in no way is pushing some Agenda. People who are black or multi racial have every right to speak out and say it's cool , and they are glad to see representation. That does not make something woke either, the world looks much more diverse than most video games portray, I see nothing wrong with any of this, it's just another reason for people to get mad at nothing. But changing a characters sexuality, race, or sex while developing a game doesn't immediately mean its to appease the Woke and Inclusivity crowd.
Let me just set the record straight, I hate this entire Woke Movement, its annoying when entertainment is used to push an agenda of any sort. We all noticed this starting a few years ago, when every TV show had to check off a certain amount of boxes, multi racial couple check, gay character check, transgender representation check, Strong Female Lead, bi curious character check, Redneck that's a democrat. I mean this is stupid shit when it contributes nothing to the story at all, but is just a list of requirements a studio has to include before they can actually start making a game , show , or movie.
