Segments involving Shina feature the mix of RPG gameplay and light visual-novel presentation that is familiar to Compile Heart games. Players navigate World's Odyssey, occasionally running into enemies on the field. Battles take place in a circular arena, where up to three characters from Shina's party take on enemy creatures known as Martyrs. Players are allowed to freely move around the arena and take up to three battle actions per turn. Depending on the actions that the player takes, the target enemy might be sent flying, where they will receive additional damage by colliding with the field boundaries, other combatants, and "Field Bugs."
Segments involving Arata are closer to fully-fledged visual novel gameplay. They follow Arata as he searches for clues in Sagami City to help advance Shina's quest to escape World's Odyssey, and feature no combat.
