📗 About This Game!
➤Death Stranding is an action game set in an open world, which also includes multiplayer functions. Kojima compared the genre to how his earlier game Metal Gear – now considered to be a stealth game – was called an action game during its release because the stealth genre was not considered to exist at the time.
The player controls Sam Bridges, a porter for a company known as Bridges. The player is tasked with delivering cargo to various isolated cities known as KNOTs, and is evaluated by the company and recipients based on their performance (including "likes" similar to social networks). The player's main enemies include otherworldly creatures known as "beached things" (BTs), as well as MULE—a cult of rogue, bandit-like porters who attempt to steal other porters' cargo and deliver it themselves.[5][6]
BTs are surrounded by a rain known as "timefall"—which is capable of speeding the passage of time, aging or deteriorating whatever it hits (which causes damage to the player's armor and cargo). BTs are normally invisible, but Sam is able to sense them if he is within the "black timefall" in closer proximity to them, which activates a robotic sensor on Sam's suit known as an Odradek, which points towards its location.[7][8][9][10][6] If the player is consumed by a BT, it results in an cataclysm known as a "voidout", which permamently damages the area of the death with an untraversable crater.
As players add KNOTs to the Chiral Network, they can use terminals and blueprints to produce consumable items and structures in a manner similar to 3D printing (including ropes, boots, and power generators used for charging for battery-powered equipment), while (via online functionality) other players can place structures and notes in the game's world, and recover lost cargo to complete their delivery.
