Death Stranding is an action, strand video game developed by Kojima Productions, and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

In the near future, mysterious explosions have rocked the planet, setting off a series of supernatural events known as the Death Stranding. With spectral creatures plaguing the landscape, and the planet on the verge of mass extinction, it's up to Sam to journey across the ravaged wasteland and save mankind from impending annihilation.

Death Stranding takes place in an open world. As a porter for a company known as Bridges, Sam is tasked with making his way through the world carrying cargo, while overcoming various environmental obstacles with equipment, dealing with various enemies include otherworldly creatures known as "beached things" (BTs), as well as MULE—a cult of rogue, bandit-like porters who attempt to steal other porters' cargo and deliver it themselves. BTs are surrounded by a rain known as "timefall"—which is capable of speeding the passage of time, aging or deteriorating whatever it hits. If the player is consumed by a BT, it results in a cataclysm known as a "voidout", which permanently damages the area of the death with an untraversable crater.
