DEATHLOOP is a Time Loop Masterpiece | 2025 Review
I recommend you play DEATHLOOP, a first-person time loop centric action stealth game. Here's why:
Well, you'll have to watch the video! I need this real estate up here anyway. Gotta keep all the important YouTube description stuff up here for the fine folks lookin' for it, ya dig?
Also, I am sooooo sorry about the audio for this one š
I had been having issues with my mic, and the room that I was trying to record audio in. It was the best I could get it to sound as it was recorded, and the best I could digitally alter it. As you may have heard though, my mic situation has changed, so the next video will be much better!

2025 Deathloop review Deathloop 2025 review
Block of Text Time!
For January's self-imposed video theme (don't look at upload date), I chose to go with something AAA, and Deathloop is a great game that I feel deserves a little bit more love. So that's what the vids on today, my loyal connoisseurs.
Perusing the negative reviews will show you that I'm not crazy; there are gamers that just want this game to be something different. For some of them, different means, "a working PC port" (since resolved), but for everyone else, it seems they just wanted Arkane to do "another Arkane", and it's very clear when playing Deathloop with a normal, open-mind, that Arkane DID do an Arkane, just not in the way the gamer⢠wanted them to. It's bold, it's unique, it's different, it's GREAT, IMO. They evolved in such a cool direction and I feel that it pays off. Hence, this video exists.
Slight shift of thought, but bear with me. Something I've never really done is speed run through a game I love. Closest I've gotten is NEON WHITE, of which, I have all the achievements (a proud moment for me, but that's a story for another time), but that game is designed to be that way. I'm talking about... games that weren't designed that way. Your Mario 64 people. The Peggle Heads (don't google that). People playing and breaking INSCRYPTION. Etc. I've never played a normal game enough times to play it FAST for FUN. Maybe you have? Comment.
That's kind of the beautiful thing about Deathloop. In a very casual way, it's teaching you how to speed run a normal game. You've been here, done that, grabbed this, killed that. It's rote, but in a good way. It feels comfortable to just KNOW where the enemies are. How to take advantage of routes. Where to hide when you're invaded. No timer, all feel, it's cool. I feel like it's only possible (or perhaps the best version of this) BECAUSE it's a time loop game, and I think that's neat. Isn't that neat? Then on top of that there's random loot like a roguelite and heck, now my dopamine alarm is going off because we out here gamblin'.
It was a pretty tricky video to make, mostly because I beat this game several months ago. Many of my videos feature a secret challenge to myself, and this was the test for this one: Can I make a video on something I haven't played for a while? The "loopy" nature of Deathloop makes this a bit easy, But I did do it! If I played a more linear game, to get good footage, I would feel inclined to REPLAY the entire thing. Deathloop though, you can beat in two hours, if you know what you're doing hehehe. So I have a video going up on the second channel of that whole run.
The other thing that was tricky, was finding the motivation to edit. I could not be bothered some days. It's been 50 days of hell. Wake up. Think about nothing but making a YouTube video. Don't edit in the morning. Go to work. Think about doing ANYTHING to get home to make the YouTube video. Finally go home. Feel miserable. Hardly make progress. Now it's too late. Go to bed. Repeat. Misery. Eventually I wisened up. Haven't really "played" a video game for 2 weeks, devoting it all to editing. Tricked myself that editing was a video game. Even a handful of seconds a day goes a long way.
At one point I made the mistake of looking up other review videos and that crushed me so bad dude š
I was like WOW I suck so bad. "What's even the point?" I'd ask myself. But the point is to keep doing this to get better. I'm not trying to compete with anybody -- the most important thing is to consistently get better until the channel explodes. To a degree it doesn't even matter what's in the script or what I show you on the screen. It's a process that I realize will probably take years. But the better and faster I get at this... the higher my odds are of making this a job...
and boy...
odds sounds like gambling...
