Deathtrap Dungeon: The Interactive Video Adventure - PC - First Attempt (Blind)
A first attempt at completing Deathtrap Dungeon: The Interactive Video Adventure. This is an adapation of the sixth book in the Fighting Fantasy series, which originally came out on paperback in 1984. It plays similar to the Tin Man Games ports, but here, Hollywood actor - Eddie Marsan, narrates the story. I did complete the book as a kid, but I'd forgotten the solution.
You play an adventurer, who braves the Trial of Champions, a contest started by a rich baron. No-one has ever made it out of his Deathtrap Dungeon.
This is very faithful to the book, though there are some changes to the rules. There's a new battle system that makes combat easier, but it does let you play using the original battle system, which I'll be doing here.
Other changes include:
Luck rolls don't subtract luck points, unless they're used in combat.
Your potion now contains two measures, instead of just one.
You can now use provisions and potions in combat.
No equipment will ever boost your initial rolls (which was never made clear in the original if it did or not anyway).
This also has checkpoints and autosaves. If I die in this attempt, I'll be continuing from the last checkpoint, but I won't be backtracking to earlier checkpoints. If I reach the end of the dungeon without a way to unlock the exit, or I reach a point of no return (e.g. having too low stamina to continue, or not possessing a vital item), then I'll start from the beginning. Once I've completed it, I'll be showing some permadeath attempts, with no re-rolling for initial stats (there'll be no re-rolling in these attempts either).
