Def Jam Icon: Build a Label Playthrough - Part 3 (Hard Difficulty)
This game is actually a simple game, you'll understand how this game works if you played this for a few hours or so. The controls, however, are atrocious. I don't like how they assigned both grab button and directional attack on the right analog. This will cause an overlap during the gameplay for sure. For example, after I blocked the AI's low directional attack, the best way to punish is by grabbing him. Since I need to push my right analog down to block, my character will do a high directional attack instead of grabbing him because pushing the right analog up is how you do grab in this game, and pushing the right analog down and up is how you do a high directional attack. This overlap shouldn't exist if they kept the simple controls from the previous two games.
The grab button is not the only problem in this game, the evasive roll is an issue too. They assigned both evasive roll and character's general movements on the left analog. I need to flick the left analog twice to roll anywhere I want but my character will sometimes unintentionally do evasive rolls at the wrong time. Mistakes like this can cost me a lot especially when I play this game on Hard. If you're playing this game, you need to keep in mind on these two issues.
I have made a lot of playthroughs for Vendetta and FFNY on my channel and I have no problem with the controls. That's because the previous two games had simpler controls than this game. So, this is not on me, it's the game's fault. Why bother making the controls more complicated to play than it should be? If ain't broke, don't fix it. Innovation is a good thing but not too much and this was EA Chicago's biggest mistake when they developed this game.
Bottom line, simple game but BS controls...
