INTRODUCTION:
The Delta Foundation had just finished the development of a cyborg unit which represented a new generation of fighting robots. They wanted to sell it to the government's department of defense as it would pose a threat to the security of the nation if it is sold to a foreign country. They asked the president, who was actually an alien from outer space, to consider their offer and respond in one week. The government took this matter very seriously, and assigned Nova to destroy the Delta Foundation.

The above text was the plot for Power Blade 2, and the Delta Foundation was assumed to be destroyed. Nova’s partner Jacqueline has since his retirement been working at Trigon Corporation as a consultant, investigation Delta Foundation’s activities. By a coincidence she found out that the entire leadership of Trigon is controlled by aliens, and the only way to stop the invasion is by destroying their production facilities.

REVIEW:
First of all: This game took 3 years to make, it is full of secrets and extras, and this video does not reveal much of this – This is for you to explore! This walkthrough shows the most simple way to complete the game, and the video and review is made to show how the game runs and looks, and hopefully convince you to click on the link at the bottom and support big productions like this by spending a very modest / small amount of money on buying it.

This game is HUGE, this walkthrough is almost 2 hours and this is played in Normal mode, if you play in Hard mode there will be many more motorbike sections (1:20:07) and other stuff that will make it a much longer game.

The objective is off course to destroy the aliens and complete the game, but the real challenge is to find all the stars and get all the incoming messages revealed. You have “Incoming Messages” on the menu screen, the messages will appear when you find a star, and this will then be saved. If you complete the game and start a new game you will still have the messages you have already found. Some of the stars might be hidden behind destructible walls, or in places you can only reach when using the powers from one of the special suits.

Most of the time you play with Nova and he can throw boomerangs and make power slides. As you proceed you will get 3 special suits with extra powers you can wear any time you like. On some levels you have to use them to complete the level, but your “suit bar” will go down when using them. There are different stages and they are split up into 3 levels, at the last level you will meet a boss, and it will be wise to enter the boss fight with a full energy bar for your suit. You have energy bars for health, weapon and suit and it is possible to find refills for all of these.

You also have to play with Jacqueline on quite a huge level. This level is completely different as it is a stealth level. Jacqueline wears a prototype of an invisibility suit from Trigon, and also here there is a “suit bar” but this will refill itself slowly when the suit is not used. If you should get in trouble you also have a stun gun for use. Jacqueline are having problems with her terminal, so you have to enter a lot of rooms and hack the computers to activate elevators, so you can find and hack the security system, so Nova can head up to the last sector.

The motorbike section(s) are tough, but fantastic looking. If you select to play in Hard mode you will face the motorbike section as the first thing.

When you reach the final stage the levels will be smaller but there will be a boss fight at the end of each. You will have to fight all the bosses again and also three new final bosses.

If you know the Power Blade series this game will look familiar, many of the enemies looks the same, and some soundtracks will also be recognizable. An incredible amount of soundtracks has been made for this game, and you can listen to them all from the menu screen. Turbo Sound is also supported.

Most of the screens are crammed with detailed background graphics, and there is a lot of stuff going on in the background of many of the screens like waterfalls, running water, moving gears, air bubbles in water, steam and lots of other things. There are some white/cyan clash but monochrome mode is selectable.

Everything is moving smooth and fast and the controls are fast and responsive. You have to use 3 fire buttons, but you can redifine the keys as you like. 8-button joystick is also supported.

This is one of the biggest platform games ever made for the Spectrum, and probably also the one with most boss fights and most secrets to find.
