Deng Ai reached the pinnacle of his career in 222, when he led Wu forces to conquer Shu. By striking alone through a shortcut across dangerous mountainous terrain, Deng Ai showed up in the vicinity of the Stone Sentinel Maze, and took the enemy by surprise.
