Descent³ is the last sequel to the original Descent set in the same setting and story. It was developed by Outrage Entertainment and published by Interplay Entertainment for Windows, classic MacOS in 1999 and for Linux in 2000.

Descent³ got one expansion in the form of Descent³: Mercenary, also published by Interplay for Windows in 1999.

The music for the base game was composed by Jerry Berlongieri and the music for the Mercenary expansion was composed by Julian Soule.
