This "Expedition Animatic" Conceptualization by Ilya V. Abulkhanov is likely part of the Original Story of Destiny before a lot got changed after the firing of Lead Writer Joe Staten. The mysterious female entity that the cosmonauts encountered on Mars was wiped from the story. She bears similarities to the Awoken or the Emissary or the Nine.
