Part 4 picks up Liu Bei's army as they take on the two-headed task of defeating Yuan Shao's army and settling the civil war in Jing Zhou. They first infiltrate Yuan Shao's territory, then go to tackle the mess in Jing Zhou. They also meet the legendary Pang Tong and gain his support, then meet Yuan Shao in a showdown deep in his territory where they execute him. Then our heroes go on a quest to recruit China's greatest strategest, the amazing Zhu Ge Liang. Then they receive word that Shu is under attack and prepare to go aid that region.
Welcome to my DoaE special challenge run. If you never played this game before, you will get spoiled greatly as I will hide nothing. These guidelines are being followed:
1.) Low-level run up until end of Shu Chapter. Only three random battles are fought prior to the end of Shu Chapter - Han Zhong (required for first chapter), Pang Tong and Lu Bu (both of these are storyline battles).
2.) No Tigers used. Exceptions are Zhang Fei, Guan Yu and Zhu Ge Liang which the game will NOT let you progress if they are dead. I've tried several times and the game glitches out badly. Zhu Ge Liang will be used as tactician only and never in battles. After Shu Chapter, no Tiger Generals are present in the active party (Zhu Ge Liang will still be used as tactician only). I will NOT even talk to Jiang Wei.
3.) Starting with Wu Chapter, random battles allowed ONLY to recruit Generals needed to progress through the game. I will still be playing as if on a low-level challenge and avoiding all other battles.
4.) Although the level-ups will not reflect it during the run, my game will have Tactical Points reflecting me getting 5 every level. From time to time you will see the status screen show on my run so you can see this. I should end up with 155 TP (as many know, getting the TP for the Fu Bing level is next to improbable).
This is not a speedrun although timewise I should be pretty quick. This is just showing my take on a low-level and no-tigers challenge merged together into one special run increasing the difficulty level a bit.
I hope you enjoy my run! This entire run was played on the FCEUX Emulator.
Videos were edited to remove random battles (those odd flashes you see as I'm walking) and reduce video play time.
