Destiny - Raid - Vault of Glass - Part 7 (Atheon - DPS Method)
1Having done the Vault of Glass on Normal multiple times, it is much easier than when we first faced the countless team wipes.
I call this way of doing it the DPS Method. You basically open the portal then go to the center where the kamikaze Supplicants can't get you. Also good spot to shoot at Supplicants on either side, while especially focusing on any that are near the portal the Shield team will be coming out. Once clear, you can start focusing on Atheon with you best DPS weapons, but keep your best ammo for when the Shield team is out. Most of the time I keep my Super and Grenades for the Supplicants, since weapons (Sniper or Heavy Machine) DPS on Atheon is more effective.
As soon as the Sheild team is out, you get x5 damage on all your attacks, so this is the only time you should focus on Atheon. All other times you really should just focus on Portal or Supplicants.
Just keep an eye on that timer and get out of the middle and back to your assigned portal when it reaches around 5 seconds left.
If everybody on the team of 6 does what they need to do, you can generally kill Atheon within 3-4 portal cycles.
Note: Hard mode not much different, except Atheon will put that Bubble around you (that the earlier Templar boss uses) that you have to break out of on each portal cycle, plus take a little longer to kill.
