There is a consistent way to ensure you get the Spirit Bloom (100% of time) and Secret Templar Loot Chest (mystery conditions met) after you defeat the Templar.

As far as anyone that has done it can tell, the mystery conditions seems to be make sure the Templar never teleports during the entire fight (sure requirement), and no one on your team dies (less sure on this), then getting that secret Templar Loot Chest becomes available.

There are at least two ways I have tried where you can kill the Templar while preventing him from ever teleporting. I think Bungie will patch one, and the other might be how they intend for this fight to go.
