E3 is a convention that has seen attendance growth over recent years as a function of the expanding industry... but is undeniably in decline with reference to credibility, and integrity.

This most recent breach in data security (in my opinion) will be the icing on the cake that contributes to a revamped protocol and format for the expo as it struggles to regain consumer trust.

As the information breach became public, however, a far more interesting series of events unfolded. The industry is largely aware of the problematic coverage executed by mainstream games media at times, but the chosen tactic of blaming the messenger, in what appears to be roundabout protection of the ESA, highlights a broader and more serious issue.
