6Cerita Devil May Cry 5 sendiri berpusat pada sosok misterius yang menyebut dirinya sendiri sebagai “V”. Ia berujung mengunjungi Dante di kantor Devil May Cry untuk sebuah tugas yang tidak mudah untuk dilakukan – menghancurkan sosok iblis super kuat yang mengancam. Dante yang kebetulan butuh uang untuk membuat kantor perburuan iblisnya tetap hidup langsung menyanggupinya, walaupun V sendiri sudah memberikan wejangan soal level ancaman yang jauh lebih tinggi dibandingkan semua hal yang pernah dilawan Dante selama ini. Iblis super kuat tersebut diketahui bernama Urizen dan ia hidup di atas singgasana pohon iblis bernama Qliphoth. Namun sayangnya, Urizen ternyata jauh lebih kuat daripada apa yang diprediksi oleh Dante dkk. Mereka berujung “dibantai” dengan nasib akhir yang tidak jelas.
