DFFOO JP - Beatrix BT Showcase (Doing My Weekly Shinryu for Red Brilliance) - Freya/Edgar/Beatrix
I wanted to showcase Lightning in her own IW, but I did pick up Beatrix BT since I tend to go for BTs for characters I already have an FR for, and vice versa. I also traded my maxed Ultima Fists in for the Greatsword. Freya, Edgar, Beatrix, and Llyud are my only options for Red Crystal characters to grind these quests and build up the Red Crystal passives, so I figured I may as well record the run as a way of showing off Beatrix BT, as I never know when I'll actually use her again. I won't record every weekly Shinryu I do as these are just old stages with bloated HP pools and needing to use characters of the same Crystal Colour.
This stage is the one based on Iris' FR/BT event. I had a really easy time with this stage in it's original incarnation, rushing it down with Freya, Vivi, and Cor, but this time I had a lot more trouble as these three characters were practically my only options for this and at present, they don't work especially well together. I think they will work better once I get some of the crystal passives I want but in general, I think I definitely need to build up my Red Crystal roster a bit.
Beatrix's BT pretty much fixes most of the issues in her kit. She now has party Thunder Enchant in her BT effect, meaning I can properly use her Force Time without relying on Garnet LDCA, opening up some flexibility with my calls when using her. Plus she also has FR Echo, so I can use other Force Times as well if I prefer. Her BT also prevents buffs she grants to herself from depleting, which means you can keep Holy Knight's Safeguard running for the duration of her BT effect, which is 8 turns (it will then carry on for 2 turns after that if you use the BT immediately after casting Safeguard). Besides that, she did get reworks on her skills so her on turn damage is better now. Beatrix didn't really need anything right now but they seem to always give her upgrades a little earlier than she will need them so she should remain very strong as an off-turn unit for a long time.
For this fight I had to bring a Zack call to make the enemies target anybody except for Freya. Which is backwards compared to what I would usually do but in this case, Beatrix's counters won't go off if the enemy doesn't hit the target so enemies targeting Freya while she is in the air will be bad here. I put the Zack call on Edgar as these enemies randomly debuff and I didn't want Beatrix getting hit by a paralyse debuff. Also used a Lenna call for debuff immunity during Beatrix Force Time.
This took me a lot of tries mainly because the turn order was always very wonky, I had to remove Freya's Speed passives in the end as she was getting too many turns, as was the team in general. This made the party mBRV suffer a bit. I usually don't have to do that but this fight was just being super awkward.
I basically had to fish for as many turns in Beatrix Force Time as possible, while setting up Edgar's BT trap for near the end of it for massive damage. I saved one Edgar Force Time for the end to finish off, and just barely made turn count as it is unusually small here.
If you're wondering what the Gold framed buff is, it's one of the Crystal Passives, it provides ATK Up and BRV/HP Regen for the whole fight. I won't be using it long term, it's just on the way to one of the passives I want.
