DFFOO JP - The EX+ Era FFIX Meta Team Returns with Lv. 90! Freya/Zidane/Garnet VS Edge IW Lufenia+
Some might remember that during the EX+ era, Freya, Zidane, and Garnet was considered the best FFIX only team to run for a while, due to the amount of battery Freya and Garnet can provide between them, their auras and healing, and Garnet's enchanting, making the whole team do lots of damage. It was also a very fast team and Zidane helped with debuffs and launching utility, and the two ladies kept his c50 boost that gives him more ATK for fighting alongside female party members active.
With Garnet's Lv. 90 and rework, I think it's fair to say that this team has once again looped back around to being the best FFIX team. With Freya and Garnet both having strong follow-ups, and Zidane having consecutive turns, Freya and Garnet can just keep doing those follow-ups as Zidane keeps turn hogging, and the battery, healing, and auras are completely over the top. Both Zidane and Garnet are pretty fast naturally too so they can keep the airborne Freya back in the turn order quite effectively. Garnet having multiple HP hits in her follow-up now makes it more justified in being spaced out every four turns and it works nicely alongside Freya doing single HP hit follow-ups every turn.
As for the stage itself, this team makes it pretty easy, though it requires making sure Freya acts as soon as possible to use her LD and then jump off-screen to start doing follow-ups. This is because the Orb goes down by 3 with a cap of 15, but Freya's follow-up will push it back up by 1. Garnet's follow-up pushes it straight up to 15. So the idea is that Freya slows down the Orb, giving Garnet enough turns for her follow-up to activate and reset the Orb. As long as Freya is in the air, you're safe from the Orb with this setup. Zidane then focuses on deleting the enemy turns and taking lots of turns in general so the follow-ups can keep coming.
However I did make a big mistake. In previous iterations of the CPU fight I have experienced in GL, you usually had to destroy the minions to weaken the main boss. However, it's actually the opposite here. If you destroy the minions first, the main boss will do an AoE attack that wipes the party's buffs (including framed). I got lucky and Freya was in the air when this happened so I was pretty safe and could build Zidane and Garnet back up fairly quickly, but the boss then respawns the minions. I then went to destroy the main boss as I thought destroying it would then destroy the minions automatically but that was not the case, you still have to destroy the minions again, and enemy C is really tanky too. This wasn't difficult as I could just keep deleting turns but it lengthened my turn count by a lot. So I think you're supposed to rush down the main boss and just avoid giving the minions turns. In any case, that just makes this a run a showcase of team's longevity, they had plenty of fight left in them.
