After Fay concludes her initial journey to Elvala, she begins making her way back home; though she first stops at the Nargol Kingdom to run an aid mission for the Shaloran. Here though she gets to see the acts of the Ziguranth first hand, showing what would be the start of the Spellhunt.
While not as heavily influenced by the lore as Book 1, the second book did touch on a few key aspects of it. The story of my salvation, how to be a necromancer part 4, and Spellhunter's Guide part 3: How to Kill a Magic-User all played heavily into how the events of Book 2 were portrayed.
I was also influenced by there being a desert on the western edge of Maj'Eyal and the dwarf alchemist in lost hope; also by Dwarf Fortress, because I do pull inspiration from other roguelike, or roguelike-adjacent games. The desert for example didn't look natural, so I explained it away as a result of the Spellblaze. Having dwarven dwellings outside of Iron Throne is a reference to Dwarf Fortress; also it hints as to why Ungrol is in the Allied Kingdoms and not the Iron Throne.
The above said, because there wasn't as much lore regarding the Nargol's in the Age of Dusk, I was freed from having to write around things as much. I also introduced a psionic character into the lore; where everything else was usually just a Mage, Warrior, or Rogue.
