Patch 2.2 introduces micro-transactions in the Asian region, using a currency named Platinum. Platinum can either be purchased for real money, or gained through completing in-game achievements, daily quests or rift challenges. The currency can be used to purchase experience, gold and blood shard boosts, to rent ancient items, for cosmetic enhancements like transmogs and character portraits and to increase the number of stash tabs and character slots.
