Some concerning reports and message board forms are implying that Activision might have experienced a large scale security breach. Specifically, frequent players of Call of Duty have come out to say that they believe their accounts were compromised. Certainly file this one in the rumor category for now as Activision has officially stated reports about Activision Call of Duty accounts being compromised are “not accurate.” However, a large amount of posts and tweets from people who claim to have been compromised have been seen across the internet and it would certainly indicate that something is off. This speculation doesn’t come at a great time for Activision who is ramping up to market the all new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War coming out this fall. Of course there will be versions of Cold War for the next gen consoles Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and the PS5 but as of right now Activision doesn’t offer two-factor authentication and that maybe enough to scare off a few potential new adopters.
